8 Days Rwanda Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Today you start the amazing Rwanda wildlife safari. Kagera Safaris driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or at the Kigali International Airport on your arrival.

This morning, we depart for Nyungwe Forest in southern Rwanda, stopping for lunch in Huye. The Huye Ethnographic Museum, formerly known as the National Museum of Rwanda, offers insights into the culture and history of the Rwandan people. We arrive at Nyungwe Forest later in the evening.

Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest immerses you deep within the lush, botanically diverse landscape, which is home to 13 primate species. Arrive at the briefing point by 6:00 AM to receive instructions on proper trekking etiquette and the expected duration of your trek. Your guide will then lead you to either the Uwinka trailhead or the Cyamudongo sector to begin your chimpanzee-viewing experience.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Uwinka Center to embark on a canopy walk, further exploring the wonders of Nyungwe Park.

Start with Colobus monkey trekking and later depart for Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. You will receive a briefing from the community guides and then begin your experience in the forest. Enjoy the sights of Lake Kivu and winding roads in the land of a thousand hills. Depending

Embark on an unforgettable journey to meet the mountain gorillas in the dense jungles of the Virunga ranges. The trek begins with a briefing at the park headquarters, where you’ll be assigned a ranger and a gorilla family to track. The Rwanda gorilla trek through Volcanoes National Park can last from an hour to several hours, so it’s important to be reasonably fit. Remember to pace yourself as you make your way through the challenging terrain.
After this incredible experience, consider visiting a local cultural group or taking a community walk further to immerse yourself in the region’s rich heritage.

Spend the morning trekking in search of golden monkeys within Volcanoes National Park. Return to park headquarters for a briefing before being assigned to a group. Observe these active primates as they feed and move about.
Afterward, depart for Akagera National Park, making brief stops along the way for photos and restroom breaks.

Akagera National Park, a savannah park in northeastern Rwanda along the Tanzanian border, is home to an array of large mammals found nowhere else in the country. Start your visit with an early morning game drive to spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks, and recently reintroduced lions. These drives typically take place in the park’s northern sector and can last nearly a full day, depending on your wildlife sightings and interests.

Today is your last day on this Kagera Safaris – Rwanda wildlife safari. Start your day with breakfast and transfer to the airport for your exit flight.
