Your tour guide will pick you up from the airport upon arrival or at a hotel in Kigali, then take you on a city tour. You’ll visit the genocide memorial, Nyamata church, and local markets, among other sites. Afterwards, you’ll drive northward across the border to Bwindi National Park in Uganda, enjoying spectacular scenic views of the Virunga Mountains along the way. The day will end with dinner and an overnight stay at either Gorilla Safari Lodge (Luxury) or Bwindi Jungle Lodge (Deluxe).
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to park headquarters for a briefing prior to entering the tropical forest. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the chimpanzees for up to an hour.
After lunch, embark on a nature walk through the Bigodi wetland sanctuary, where you’re likely to spot a variety of monkey and bird species. Keep an eye out for the Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Black & white Shrike-flycatcher, Black Bishop, White-tailed Ant-thrush, Brown-crowned Tchagra, White-breasted Negro finch, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Black-crowned Waxbill, White-spotted Flufftail, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Brown-backed Scrub-robin, Grey-winged Robin-chat, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Western Nicator, and Superb Sunbird, among others.
In the morning, transfer to the serene Lake Bunyonyi, an ideal destination for relaxation. Depending on your starting point, the journey from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi takes approximately 2 hours from Ruhija or 4 hours from Buhoma. Once there, you’ll embark on a canoe ride to explore the lake’s fascinating islands and immerse yourself in the captivating sounds of the local birdlife.
(A) Embark on a 2-3 hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, traversing a region dotted with spectacular crater lakes along the foothills of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains.
(B) Spend the afternoon on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a magnet for the park’s abundant mammals and birds.
(C) Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your choice of accommodation, ranging from the luxury Mweya Safari Lodge to the more budget-friendly Enganzi Lodge.
At 6:00 AM, embark on game drives to spot early-rising wildlife, such as lions, hyenas, bushbucks, and elephants, before they retreat to their hiding places. After the drives, return to the lodge for a late breakfast, then depart for Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your choice of accommodations: Chimpundu Lodge (luxury), Primates Lodge (deluxe), or Chimpanzee Guest House (budget).
After an early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park ranger.
(A) Later, embark on chimpanzee tracking.
(B) The trek will expose you to a diverse array of primates, including Colobus Monkeys, Giant forest hog, Vervet, red-tailed monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Olive Baboons, and over 350 bird species.
(C) In the afternoon, go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary.
After a relaxed breakfast in the morning, transfer to Entebbe airport, passing through Kampala for your departure.
